Square Feet of Awesomeness
Minutes a week we’re open—Come see us!
Our story can easily become long-winded… This is the sweetened, condensed version. If you want to spend an afternoon with us at the shop, we’ll be happy to share with you our uncensored—“you’d better bring snacks”—”tell your honey not to wait up” account of the last five years.
Two months after moving in across the street from each other Abe & I, Marley, tied the knot at city hall (shocking our families while friends placed bets on the outcome of the coming months/years) AND we simultaneously started a house-flipping business. Our focus was on modernizing and customizing historic homes in Boise downtown neighborhoods. We did this for several successful years while managing to raise a tweenager, have two babies, and move seven times. We were busy.
The experience of improving homes was incredibly rewarding. We loved the adventure, creativity and excitement that came along with it — But we desired more. One property at a time wasn’t enough. We found ourselves bored with the routine.
While working hard on our renovations we often daydreamed about risking it all to venture into uncharted waters. Our passion for unique design, personalized spaces, and human connection eventually mingled into one clear vision. The plan: To help others discover their distinct design style with fearlessness and ease. The platform: A unique and eclectic furniture boutique.
In 2016 we finished our last remodel project and agreed it was time to move on. We put all our chips on the table and in February 2017, we opened URBANDUO, a furniture, gifts & home goods store. Our shop is founded on the belief that everyone is beautifully unique and home should be a sincere reflection of one’s own individual style.
We offer a variety of products that are as unusual and rare as you are. It’s our hope that we influence your home in a way that makes living there an incredibly gratifying and fulfilling experience. Hence the URBANDUO tagline — Your Style + Your Turf.
Now let’s start exploring!
I hate monotony. I love to be creative. I'm good with my hands. I'm nomadic. I've always been artistic. I used to make my own clothes. When I was 17 I traveled the West Coast earning gas money for my VW Bus from handmade hats and jewelry. I write songs, I play the guitar, I can decorate a killer room on a dime. Life is an adventure. I get a little wacky sometimes, caught up in the excitement of it all. I often joke that I'm like a balloon, dancing around in the clouds with a loving companion hanging onto the other end of the string — Keeping me from floating too far away.
I’m a Montana boy, tried and true. I grew up learning carpentry alongside my contractor Dad. I had my own tool belt not long after I learned to walk. Adventurous from a young age, you’d often find me exploring the mountains, woods and rivers near my home. Things haven’t changed much except these days I often have my three kids and wife, Marley, in tow. Afternoons spent wading rivers with fly rod in hand keeps me balanced and clear while URBANDUO keeps me inspired and alive.
I'm a happily married mother of four. Life is busy in and out of URBANDUO. I was gifted with a natural ability to put spaces together. I've worked in the past as a design assistant and home stager. I really enjoy helping people explore their creative side. I'm always ready for a challenge. Bring it on!
Rad Jac, here. I’m a traveler and nature lover. I’m an amateur home improver. I gained an appreciation watching my mom flip houses growing up. My dad has a background in woodwork and welding, which contributes to my love of furniture and art. I'm happy to be a part of the URBANDUO journey alongside these creative and inspiring people.
